Blacktown. Parking meters in the CBD

Blacktown City Council officers will prepare a report on the possible introduction of parking metres in the Blacktown CBD.

Moorebank Thirty-seven firms interested

Thirty-seven companies have taken part in market briefings for the federal government’s Moorebank Intermodal Terminal project including large freight operators, freight users, financiers and construction companies from Australia and overseas. Tenders for the design, construction and operation of the terminal are expected to be open in mid- 2013.

Parramatta City Council will seek specialist advice to assist Riverside Theatres explore the establishment of a new partnership with a performance production company and proceeds with the development of a master plan for the future development of the complex.

Kellyville. Objectioon to 25 storeys

Home owners near 301 Samantha Riley Drive, Kellyville, say a development proposal for the council to rezone the area to allow five towers, with the tallest between 20 and 25 storeys, is ‘‘obscene’’ given it would be next to houses of one or two storeys.. Baulkham Hills MP, David Elliott, called the 25-storey proposal ‘‘ludicrous’’. ‘‘There will be some medium to high density along the rail stations but 25 storeys just doesn’t make sense,” he said in the Blacktown City Sun

Parramatta. Tender for redevelopment

Lidis Group/ Dockside Group has won the tender for the redevelopment of the Lennox Bridge Carpark and 333 Church Street, in the Parramatta CBD. The amount of the tender was not disclosed.

Moorebank. $144 million investment

Goodman Fielder proposes the demolition of existing storage building and construction of a new bakery facility, at Moorebank. The estimated cost of the investment: $144 million.

Region. $845 million contribution

Peter Eeles, the director, of campus development at the University of Western Sydney, said a recent Deloitte study confirmed the the university makes an economic contribution of over $845 million to the Western Sydney region and creates more than 8800 jobs.

Parramatta City Council has endorsed the establishment of a select stakeholder group to assist the implementation management and monitoring of the proposed City of Parramatta brand.
