Parramatta. ParraSync at CeBIT

STMicroelectronics will demonstrate ParraSync, a ParraConnect Advisory Committee project at CeBIT Australia, at Darling Harbour, on May 22-24. ParraSync is an Australian-first project that involves participants using smartcards or near field communication-enabled mobile phones to access car parks, work buildings, libraries, purchase items from businesses, access loyalty programs and more. ParraSync is one of many projects delivered by the ParraConnect Advisory Committee, established by Parramatta City Council. Other projects that are already operating in Parramatta include smart phone applications, free WiFi in our libraries, mobile CCTV coverage and more.

Region. Premier powerless

Premier, Barry O’Farrell, is powerless to stop a second airport being built in Sydney if the federal government decides to proceed, say constitutional law experts who believe it is simply a matter of political will. Professor George Williams, from the University of NSW, and Professor Anne Twomey, from the University of Sydney, say it is clear the federal government has the power to build a second airport, despite the objection of the NSW government, The Sydney Morning Herald said.

Parramatta. $60,000 Partnership Fund

Parramatta City Councvil is making a Partnership Fund of $60,000 available to a) business organisations representing and supporting local firms based in the Parramatta LGA, and b) media providers with business orientated products that reaches a local Parramatta and/or Western Sydney regional business readership.

Parramatta. $28.7 million showroom

Paarramatta City Council has approved a DA lodged by the Manson Group for the demolition and construction of a four storey motor showroom over a basement service centre with a roof top carpark, at 40-70 Church Street, Parramatta. The estimated cost is $28.7 million.

Applicants, Fayad - NR Parkes Pty Ltd have had a DA approved by Parramatta City Council for the demolition of existing structures and construction of a 5 storey mixed use development containing ground floor commercial tenancies and 56 residential apartments over 2 levels of basement carparking, at 5 - 7 Parkes Street, Parramatta. The estimated cost is $13.3 million.
