Region. Demand for industrial facilities

Growing demand for quality industrial facilities in key locations has underpinned a range of significant lease commitments in Western Sydney, according CB Richard Ellis. In one of the larger recent deals, Australia’s leading white and brown goods distributor has committed to lease 13,197 square metres of space in Australand’s EC3 speculative development at Eastern Creek. GPT has also capitalised on increased tenant demand after signing automotive and industrial products distributor YHI International to a 6972-square-metre lease at Rosehill Business Park in Camellia.

Parramatta. Parking by phone

Parramatta City Council has introduced a free mobile application to display nearby car parks including up-to-the-minute occupancy rates. Frank Dorrian, MD of SGS Australia and program manager for Parramatta’s Digital Concierge program, said that the application would help to improve future traffic management. He said it would also reduce Parramatta’s carbon footprint by minimising the amount of traffic congestion. The application is available for download, for free, on all android phones and would be made available on the iPhone and Blackberry and other popular devices in the coming weeks. The app can be downloaded from the ParraConnect website at www.parraconnect.net.au.
