Granville. $15 million police station

The new $15 million, state-of-the-art, 3-storey Granville police station will accommodate 156 police personnel from the Rosehill Local Area Command – including general duties officers, the crime management unit, detectives, the anti theft group and highway patrol officers.

Parramatta. High powered forum

Parramatta City Council will host a day-long forum on the growth of Sydney, the expansion of Western Sydney and the role of Parramatta as the region's capital. A series of panel discussions will be moderated by the: NSW Property Council, Sydney Business Chamber, Tourism &Transport Forum, Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and the Committee for Sydney. The forum will be held at the Parkroyal, on Tuesday, March 8.

Bankstown. No to more flights

Bankstown Airport Limited has expressed its disappointment with the decision by Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese, to not approve the Bankstown Airport master plan. “The Minister contends that the inclusion of a proposal for 32 scheduled passenger movements per day is a significant change to the airport’s operations. We disagree with the minister’s contention, as the proposal is an extension of the standing approvals from the Master Plan 2005,” said CEO, Colin Grove “The airport acknowledges that there is an increase in the proposed number of aircraft but contends the proposed number of scheduled passenger movements would form 2.5 per cent of total annual movements of all aircraft at the airport.” Mr Grove said the options would be reviewed.

Penrith. New taskforce member

Glenn Byres, a director of Penrith Business Alliance and NSW executive director, of the Property Council of Australia, has been appointed to the new Employment Lands Taskforce , which will advise the government on strategies, policies and implementation actions to secure orderly development of employment lands in NSW. He joins the local government representative, Alan Stoneham, GM, of Penrith City Council on the body
