Parramatta. ICE's new appointments

The Parramata-based Informatioon and Cultural Exchange (ICE) has made the following appointments: Lisa Torrance as acting executive director, Kristy Mayhew as marketing and communications manager, and Georgie Lampe as administration and resources officer.

Parramatta. Tourist centre nominated

The Parramatta Visitor Information Centre has been nominated as a finalist in the inaugural Greater Sydney Tourism Awards, which recognises the achievements of local tourism businesses in the Greater Sydney area. Parramatta City Council’s Visitor Information Centre is one of 38 finalists from 64 nominations. Winners of the awards will be announced on August 4, at the Castle Hill RSL Club.

Rosehill. $24 million for stand upgrade

Racing Minister, Kevin Greene, has announced a $24 million grant to refurbish the Fleming Stand at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, among other projects, as part of a package which includes the $150 million redevelopment of Randwick Racecourse. The proposal is contingent on the state's two leading thoroughbred racing clubs, the Australian Jockey Club and the Sydney Turf Club, agreeing to merge, which is anticipated to deliver an annual saving of about $5 million.

Parramatta. Economic rate approved

The Department of Local Government has approved the continuation, for the next three years, of Parramatta City Council’s economic development rate, which council says is mainly applicable to CBD businesses. The rate is used to support employment growth and to help promote Parramatta as an attractive destination for visitors, workers and tourists.
