Parramatta. City thinks global again

Parramatta City Council has reconsidered its sister city relationships and a number of informal national and international relationships which have “been inactive” for several years, with the approval of a Global City Friendship Memorandum of Understanding document as the basis of a long-term strategic approach to the development of all international relations.

Parramatta. Rescission motion on CBD hotel

Parramatta City Council will consider a rescission motion, on August 10, on council’s refusal to permit for the demolition of the heritage listed hall, restoration of the heritage listed St Peter’s Church and use as a restaurant, construction of a 13 storey hotel with basement car parking for 20 vehicles. The church is on the corner of Church and Palmer streets, in the CBD.

Penrith. Linfox wins contract

Linfox, Australia’s largest road transport group, has secured its biggest single contract, signing a deal worth up to $2 billion to handle the bulk of National Foods distribution over the next 10 years. National Foods, which operates in every state, has a factory and distribution centre, at Penrith. The new contract will add 300 employees to Linfox’s estimated 16,000 workforce. National Foods is one of Australia’s largest food and beverage companies. Its brands include Dairy Farmers, Berri, Coon, Pura, King Island, Farmers Union and Yoplait.
