Campbelltown. $3.7m to 'de-Radburn' estate

Plans are underway to demolish all 88 townhouses in a failed urban design experiment which was implemented in a Rosemeadow estate in the 1970s. A spokesperson for the Minister for Housing, David Borger, said a $3.7 million plan would “de-Radburn” the townhouses, with work to commence in early March. The American Radburn design for public housing had backyards facing the street and the fronts facing each other over common yards. The estate was the focus of recent street violence.

Ingleburn. Stage one sold out

Stage one of Monarch Investments’ Ingleburn Gardens Estate sold out in December. Before that, sales were slow; now 30 people on the waiting list, said company CEO, Peter Icklow. He was commenting on the increase in sales for new homes in NSW as a result of the first-home buyer grant, lower interest rates and a drop of up to 30 per cent in values. “Enquiry levels in November and December went up considerably and it’s translating into sales,” he said.
