Region. Development in M7 catchment area

M7 operator, Westlink, says 350,000 square metres of industrial building is currently under way in its catchment, with councils in Blacktown, Liverpool and Penrith assessing a further 400,000 square metres. Despite the anticipation of a slow down, Prestons and Eastern Creek remained hotspots for industrial property development, Knight Frank said. The outer-west and the south-west dominated the number of leasing deals in terms of space volume in the first six months of 2008.

Bankstown. Airport takes off after privatisation

Bankstown Airport generates $733 million annually, delivers flow-on impacts of $1.3 billion and accounts for 6000 direct and indirect jobs, according to an economic impact report prepared by URS Australia. "Since privatisation, the airport has increased its investment levels, along with our customers to the value of over $30 million. The value-added impact of these developments has delivered $67.14 million to the economy, added $26.94 to household income and 162 additional jobs have been created,” said Kim Ellis, CEO, Sydney Metropolitan Airport – Bankstown, which is one of two busiest airports in Australia.
